Dear Esteemed ISAians,
Warm Greetings from Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA) National Headquarters!
I express my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you for electing me as the Honorary Secretary of the ISA. Your trust, confidence, and faith in me are deeply humbling. I accept this responsibility with sincerity and a firm resolve to work tirelessly for the improvement and progress of our society.
ISA has always stood as a pillar of academic excellence, professional unity, and unwavering commitment to patient safety, and it is our collective duty to further strengthen this legacy.
In the coming years, we aim to:
Education has always been one of the topmost prerogatives of the ISA. Nonetheless, the popular ISA National postgraduate (PG) online classes that are being conducted successfully every week over the last few years have become extremely popular amongst the student and teacher community and are a true reflection of the educational goals of ISA.
The Clinical Practice Oriented webinar series (CL IP) and Clinical Reasoning and Problem-Solving webinar series (CRISP) that were conducted in the last three years brought updated clinical information to the doorstep of the busy practitioner and had become extremely popular amongst the practitioner community. In the coming days, these kinds of programmes will be rejuvenated and conducted for the benefit of the practitioners. The Private Practitioner Module is another important initiative in the making. It will shortly be published and is being designed to aid the practitioner practicing in the peripheral and resource-poor areas of our nation.
Over the years, the Indian Journal of Anaesthesia (IJA), the academic pride of our organisation, has made its presence felt on the global academic platform. The ISA remains committed to further strengthening the journal through high-quality research, ethical publishing, and active participation of its members. Nevertheless, the huge demand for scientific publication has culminated in the recent launching of Practical Evidence in Anaesthesia Knowledge (PEAK), the journal of the College of ISA. Two issues of this journal with quality articles have already been published and the journal is sure to make rapid strides in indexing, readership, and visibility. Also, the ISA National Newsletter VAPOUR has made its mark and has become a strong link that has improved the connection and bonding between our members both nationally and globally. It will continue to be a regular feature of the activities of ISA National.Further, the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists envisions strategic memoranda of understanding with leading global anaesthesia organisations and academic platforms to facilitate exchange of knowledge, collaborative research, faculty development, and sharing of best practices. Such partnerships will enhance the global visibility of Indian anaesthesiology and foster mutually enriching academic growth.
My vision for ISA is one of inclusivity, transparency, academic growth, and member empowerment. Every anaesthesiologist—whether a postgraduate, a practitioner in a remote district, or an academician in a premier institute—must feel equally represented, heard, and supported. Women anaesthesiologists are an integral strength of our specialty, and ISA will actively encourage leadership opportunities, mentorship, professional growth, and a safe, respectful work environment that enables them to lead with confidence. The future of ISA lies with our 'yuva' (young) anaesthesiologists. We are committed to providing them with robust academic platforms, skill-based training, research opportunities, mentorship, and leadership grooming so that they remain engaged, inspired, and confident as they grow within the profession. Our private practitioners form a large and vital segment of ISA. Their experience, dedication, and day-to-day challenges must find meaningful representation through practical academic programmes, professional support, medico-legal guidance, and an effective voice in policy and decision-making.
Nevertheless, the various programmes of the ISA are planned and conducted to benefit its members from various angles and provide them with all-round support. Our members should utilize these programmes to the fullest.I urge all members, particularly our younger colleagues, to enroll in the ISA Family Benevolent Fund. This compassionate initiative embodies the spirit of ISA as a caring family, offering financial security and support to members' families during unforeseen adversities. Early participation strengthens both individual security and our collective resilience.
Finally, I would like to state that the progress of ISA does not rest with the office bearers alone. It depends on the active participation, constructive suggestions, and collective wisdom of its members.
Let us move forward with unity, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to excellence in anaesthesiology.
Long live ISA!
With warm regards and best wishes,
